Cookies, What are they?

Cookies are bits of information stored on your browser that allow us to verify who you are throughout the site. Our cookies are 100% safe and will not do anything other than allow you to verify your identity to this website only and will be deleted when you close all browser windows ("Session Cookie").

Cookies, How do I turn them on/off?

PC Users with IE 5.5 or 6.x
1. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
2. Click the Security tab.
3. Make sure 'Internet' is highlighted as your 'web content zone' (see screen shot below).
4. Click the Custom Level button towards the bottom of the screen (see screen shot below).
5. Scroll down to Cookies.
6. Under "Allow cookies that are stored on your computer" click Enable.
7. Click OK, and cookies will now be stored on your computer.

Mac OS 10 users with IE 5.1.x or 5.2.x
1. On the Explorer menu, click Preferences.
2. Click on Cookies (in the Receiving Files category (see screen shot below)).
3. Click on the drop-down menu next to "When receiving cookies:" on the right side of the screen (towards the bottom).
4. If you select any option but the last ("Never Accept"), your browser will be sufficiently set to accept cookies, and you will then be able to access electronic resources here at the library (clicking on each option will provide you with a descr iption of when you will and will not be prompted to accept a cookie).
5. Click OK to accept your changes.

Mac OS 9 users with IE 5.1.x or 5.2.x
1. On the Edit menu, click Preferences.
2. Click on Cookies (in the Receiving Files category (see screen shot below)).
3. Click on the drop-down menu next to "When receiving cookies:" on the right side of the screen (towards the bottom).
4. Netscape Navigator 7 users (both PC and Mac)
1. On the Edit menu (Explorer menu for Mac OS 10 users), click Preferences.
2. Double-click on Privacy & Security in the Category window.
3. Click on Cookies under Privacy & Security.
4. You can select any of the 3 cookie enabling options here ('Enable cookies for the originating website only', 'Enable cookies based on privacy settings', or 'Enable all cookies' (see screen shot below)). Additionally, you have the option to have your browser prompt you before accepting a cookie. To have this functionality, click on the box next to 'Ask me before storing a cookie'.
5. Click OK, and your browser is then set to accept cookies. You will then be able to access electronic resources here at the library.

Netscape Navigator 4 users (both PC and Mac)
1. On the Edit menu (Explorer menu for Mac OS 10 users), click Preferences.
2. Click on the word Advanced in the Category window.
3. Check 'Accept all cookies'. If you prefer to have your browser prompt you before accepting a cookie, click on the box next to "Warn me before accepting a cookie."
4. Click OK, and your browser is then set to accept cookies. You will then be able to access electronic resources here at the library.
